A Good Thing happens in Newcastle as first local charity finds a match

The first match for a Newcastle charity has helped Eating Distress North East to deliver their vital work in the communities thanks to a laptop lock donation from Subsidium Managed Solutions.

Meet the business: Subsidium Managed Solutions

Subsidium Managed Solutions supplies businesses with mobile devices, laptops, and all the relevant accessories. Sophie Pobjoy, Customer Relationship Executive at Subsidium Managed Solutions, explained to us how they can receive surplus or returned equipment that can’t be re-distributed to their customers. Ordinarily, these items would have to be binned or recycled if possible. Although Sophie and the team were committed to rehoming these products, Sophie had found it difficult to find charities who wanted the items, often reaching out and not receiving any response.

This is when A Good Thing provided the solution that Subsidium Managed Solutions needed. Through the app, the business was able to list the surplus items and match them with charities in need. Sophie was delighted that the company could rehome the spare items and found that the app was “really easy and simple” to use. Sophie described how she enjoyed the personal nature of the platform — being able to read about the charity’s mission and hear how the donated items had helped the charity.

Having found A Good Thing’s platform, Subsidium Managed Solutions has previously listed laptop bags, headsets, and computer mice. This time, they were offering a laptop lock, which caught the eye of a charity in Newcastle.

Meet the charity: Eating Distress North East

Eating Distress North East, previously Niwe Eating Distress Service, is a charity providing vital support to individuals with eating disorders, their families, and communities across the North East of England. The charity offers independent confidential services to people affected by eating distress as well as running training and information sessions and support groups for parents and carers of anyone with an eating disorder.

Eating Distress North East saw the offer of a laptop lock and jumped at the chance to receive an item that would make a difference when working remotely, supporting people in the local community. Subsidium Managed Solutions selected the request, kindly packaged the laptop lock, and sent it to Newcastle!

The impact of the donation

This brilliant donation of a laptop lock has allowed Eating Distress North East to provide important training and information sessions within the community while giving them physical device security and peace of mind. A huge thank you to Subsidium Managed Solutions for being great supporters of A Good Thing and your donations to charities in need!
