Hygiene products, storage and laptops needed for a Nottinghamshire charity tackling hygiene poverty in the local community.

The Charity:

The Hygiene Bank in Newark, North Nottinghamshire, is working to tackle hygiene poverty.

With the rising cost of living and increasing poverty rates, many households face restricted options, leaving them to sacrifice their personal hygiene in order to pay rent or feed their families. This can lead to social isolation and shame and can contribute to wider issues around physical health and employability.

The Hygiene Bank supports members of the community who cannot access essential hygiene products. Items shared include toothpaste, deodorant, nappies, period products and household cleaning products. The charity collects these items from businesses and individuals in their local area to distribute to those struggling to afford them via community partners such as schools and food banks.

In 2022, The Hygiene Bank distributed 341,646kg of products across the UK, an amazing achievement resulting from their hard work and the generosity of donations. It is vital that the charity can continue its work to enable people to live with dignity and confidence.

The Project:

The Hygiene Bank needs hygiene products, as well as boxes, shelves, or cabinets to store them in.

It is also looking for laptops to support its service users with CV writing and form-filling.

The Ask:

• Storage boxes, shelves or cabinets

• Laptops

• Personal and household hygiene products
