‘Excel-lent’ donations to children’s charities: ExCel London donates furnishings to children’s clubs
A Good Thing’s objective is to avoid getting rid of items that others could find useful: the platform connects companies with charities, creating links and enabling the passing on of free products to those in need.
Make use and pass it on
The ExCel London venue has graciously made its first donation via the A Good Thing platform by listing colourful children’s tables and chairs, as well as desks. These were matched with two charities: Bizzie Bodies CIC and the LPF Kiddies Club.
Bizzie Bodies CIC is a charity focused on helping children’s learning development through creative workshops. The organisation was delighted to receive these donations, to be used “for our sensory garden for children with special needs”.
A wonderful opportunity
The rest of the donations were given to the LPF Kiddies Club charity, which described its experience with A Good Thing as a “wonderful opportunity” that helped towards its goal of providing after-school and holiday club provisions for children.
Having moved into a new centre, the charity needed to furnish both the indoor and outdoor spaces, to enrich the children’s experience in both play and learning.
Carmel Britto from LPF Kiddies Club tells us that the tables and chairs were used to refurnish the conference and computer rooms, as well as the classrooms: all the items donated have been put to great use.
Carmel explained that the donations “enabled us to create a more professional and welcoming environment, where we can offer a functional space. They gave the volunteers and service users an increased sense of pride in the environment; they have made the sessions look and feel better.”
Such a great example of the good that can come from the use of A Good Thing: we can always find a new use for items that might have come to the end of their life with you!
