Take note: Juniper Trading donates thousands of notebooks to charities supporting local people in need

A brilliant donation of 2,000 notebooks from Juniper Trading will help Baby Basics Northampton and The Lewis Foundation to support people across Northampton and beyond.

Notebooks in Northamptonshire

Juniper Trading is a trade supplier of promotional items, specialising in the production of notebooks in the UK. They are a member of The British Promotional Merchandise Association and one of our fantastic supporters here at A Good Thing.

In their first year with us, Juniper Trading has donated 6,000 notebooks to 13 charities across the UK. Andrew, Managing Director at Juniper Trading, explained how the offer of notebooks came about:

“We are a trade manufacturer of corporate notebooks. When we have production set ups, minor rejects, or orders get cancelled, we end up building a small % of waste unwanted books over time.”

Striving for sustainability

Juniper Trading is serious about sustainability. They aim to operate with zero manufacturing defects and continually audit and plan to achieve this. One of their key objectives is to reduce the waste they send to landfill through increased recycling and reuse where possible. While some of their notebooks can be recycled, many have covers that are not recyclable, so these unwanted items would have ended up in landfill. Fortunately, the A Good Thing platform enabled Juniper Trading to list the notebooks for charities to request.

 Andrew told us:

“As a business we are on a journey of waste reduction, and massively reducing what we discard, and can’t recycle. This reduces pressure on land fill and reduces our carbon footprint.”

“[A Good Thing] has provided us with a means of getting good use out of a viable product that otherwise would get discarded. If our products can help charities in the work they do, then it is generating value from effective waste.”

Support local

Two charities were the grateful recipients of the notebooks.

Baby Basics Northampton are a charity which provide Moses baskets of essential items for new parents and newborns in vulnerable situations across Northamptonshire. As a small charity - with a long to do list – they requested the notebooks for their staff team, trustees and volunteers to help them plan their invaluable work.

The Lewis Foundation source, package, and hand deliver free gifts and support packs to adult cancer patients in hospital. The notebooks donated by Juniper Trading will be used in care packs and journal packs for adults having cancer treatment in hospital.

Leave it out of landfill

It’s wonderful to see how the notebooks that could have been sat in landfill, will now be used for good. As Andrew told us, signing up with A Good Thing has allowed Juniper Trading to:

“Reduce our land fill and waste costs, whilst knowing that we are supporting some brilliant causes.”
