An interview with Grace, an amazing account manager

A Good Thing's (AGT) volunteers are at the heart of our mission. This wonderful team of dedicated individuals is using their skills to connect businesses and charities across the UK.

We're excited to introduce you to Grace, who joined AGT in April 2024. As an Account Manager for the South Coast region, she's been key in helping businesses navigate our platform and make multiple impactful donations. With a background in professional registration and a passion for nature and learning (she's currently tackling Arabic!), Grace brings a unique perspective to her role, managing business relationships and sharing success stories about our matches. Let's hear more about her journey with A Good Thing and how she's helping create positive change in her community!

Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I’m Grace, I started volunteering at A Good Thing in April 2024. I work in Professional Registration for the cyber security profession. Outside of work I love to get out into nature, bake, and I’m trying to learn Arabic.

Why did you choose to volunteer with A Good Thing?
I wanted to contribute my time to make a positive impact in the community so when I saw the A Good Thing opportunity, I contacted the team straight away. I thought the premise of A Good Thing was great, not only do charities get items they need for free, but businesses also reduce their environmental impact. I also loved the fact that there was flexibility in the role to fit around my other commitments.

What’s your role as part of the volunteering programme?
I’m an account manager for some of the businesses signed up with us across the South Coast of England. I’m the businesses point of contact for queries and I also ensure they have a positive user experience whilst navigating the platform and donation process. I also write good news stories about our matches as well as doing some outreach work raising awareness of A Good Thing. 

What would you say about your volunteering experience?
I’ve had a great experience so far and I’d recommend volunteering with A Good Thing to others. As a relatively new organisation, we’re constantly developing and it’s great to be able to work alongside friendly, like-minded people wanting to make a positive difference in society.
