Printing power arrives at a new community hub as B Corp Neo makes its first donation

Being a B Corp, people and the planet are at the heart of everything that brand agency Neo does – the agency works only with pioneering businesses and charities that make our world a better place. As soon as the Neo team found out about A Good Thing, they instantly got involved.

People, Planet, Pint

When Neo co-founder Nick Christoforou met A Good Thing’s Anna at a ‘People, Planet, Pint’ meeting in Shropshire, he knew immediately the platform would be a great way to share a no-longer-needed office printer. The next day, Nick put A Good Thing to the test: he listed the surplus printer and kindly offered to deliver it to a charity based in the Shropshire/Welsh borders area. Nick commented:

“The whole process was super easy! It’s such a great initiative, and we’re delighted to have found a great new home for our printer. We recommend other businesses give it a go!”

Socially connected

While in the process of setting up as a new charity, the 4 All Foundation spotted A Good Thing on Instagram at the end of 2022; they reached out to ask about the platform and immediately signed up when they received their charity registration number a couple of months later.

“We’re a huge operation”, explained George Hounsell, Foundation Lead: ‘We grew out of the Marches Academy Schools Trust, as we were offering programmes to local people and wanted to go further. We set up as a charity and now have two hubs: one in Market Drayton and the other in Ditherington, Shrewsbury’.

Supporting the whole community

The charity has got off to a flying start and already hosts a variety of programmes that are designed to reach all members of the local community at both of its sites. Activities include Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) multi-sports sessions, adult educational classes, toddler activities, baby-loss support groups and cancer support groups, alongside a busy schedule of school holiday programmes.

The printer will play a key part in the services on offer at the 4 All Foundation to local people. George commented:

“We want to support local people. Not everyone has a printer at home, so when it comes to things like printing a CV, there is sometimes nowhere to turn. The printer generously donated by Neo will mean we can offer printing services free of charge for those most in need.”

Meet you halfway!

After a couple of weeks with no requests, Nick was delighted that the 4 All Foundation had spotted the printer. George and Nick met halfway between the Neo office and the 4 All Foundation site, and really hit it off. “Nick’s a great guy”, said George, “He was really keen to hear more about the Foundation and what we’re doing in the local community, and has offered to support us by sharing further resources and time in the future.” It was meant to be!

Large site in need of furniture

The 4 All Foundation’s site at Ditherington was kindly gifted to the charity by the local council; while it has been busy setting up its well-attended programmes, there are still a couple of things the charity needs to create a welcoming environment. George commented:

“There are a few things we need, a TV screen would be great to enable us to share messages and welcome people to the centre. We are also in need of a couple of robust sofas that can be wiped down and can take a lot of footfall! We would also appreciate desks and chairs to enable us to run our busy holiday programmes easily.”
