Three monitors donated to family charity Home-Start Elmbridge

Olive Leach, Development Officer at the Home-Start Elmbridge charity in Surrey, was thrilled when the team from the British Promotional Merchandise Association (BPMA) was able to meet the ‘charity need’ for monitors that she had registered with A Good Thing.

Home-Start Elmbridge is committed to protecting the welfare of families with children under five, and reached out to A Good Thing when the charity was in need of a computer monitor. It was a wonderful result when the BPMA responded with not one, but three monitors!

Challenging times

The charity offers practical and emotional support to families who are struggling to cope for a variety of reasons: illness, poverty, isolation, domestic violence and poor mental health are just some of the factors that can make parenting really hard. In order to achieve its brilliant work with families, Home-Start Elmbridge has a team of Family Support Coordinators who work directly with families and are responsible for the support packages that are put in place.

The charity’s Senior Family Support Coordinator unfortunately had her office PC monitor fail towards the end of the summer: without a monitor, she was unable to use her office PC. She had begun to have to ‘desk hop’, borrowing a free monitor each time a colleague was out of the office. So Olive was delighted when she saw the BPMA listing come through via A Good Thing.

An easy process

Olive was delighted by how smooth the whole process was – from being matched with the BPMA to receiving the items:

“I received a very quick response from the BPMA and the delivery process was very smooth. The company did their best to ensure that collection was made to suit Home-Start.”

A positive future for Home-Start Elmbridge

Home-Start Elmbridge will now be able to use the donated monitors to provide a range of different support to families in need, such as support for home-visiting volunteers and dealing with referrals of families:

“Me and my colleagues are so impressed!”, Olive told us.

Spreading the generosity

It’s great to see that since this donation, the BPMA has continued its generosity and donated even more items through A Good Thing, including mugs, a printer and lovely blue jiffy bags:

“Speaking on behalf of all the team, A Good Thing has been really simple to use and we are promoting you heavily! We are so pleased to have found great homes for a range of different items.”

It’s wonderful to see the difference a company has made to a local charity. The team at A Good Thing looks forward to hearing more about the positive difference these donations have made to Home-Start Elmbridge and its brilliant and much-needed work.
