From our office to yours – chairs delivered, impact made

Office renovations can be costly, and with ever-tightening budgets they can be a non-essential that many charities manage without. Similarly, office space can be costly and hard to find.

Mulalley is a family-owned construction business based in Woodford Green, Essex, and specialises in new build, maintenance and renovations of properties. The firm had a huge quantity of office chairs available, which they wanted to put to good use.

As an annual-subscriber supporter of A Good Thing, Mulalley was confident it could find new homes using the platform – and, sure enough, as soon as the offer was live, a number of requests flooded in.

One beneficiary was 3Space, a charity that offers right-size, affordable business space for startups, government, non-profits and those working in arts and culture. It achieves this by repurposing buildings into places where ideas and creativity can flourish.

Matt Scaysbrook, Project Lead at 3Space, said:

“Collection was easy and there were a couple of people on hand to help out, which was kind and appreciated. These high-quality, fully-adjustable chairs will help us to create a community hub at our new Warren Street office, which includes desk space given away for free to local non-profits. Communication with the donor was easy: they were quick to respond and we will definitely use A Good Thing again.”

Mulalley went above and beyond to deliver chairs to the Waltham Forest branch of Age UK. Helen Bigham, Community Fundraiser, said:

“We had intended them for our charity shop, but their high quality and comfort have made them such a favourite among our staff and volunteers, they have found a home in our office hub – making a meaningful impact on our team.”

Helen continued:

“The process was straightforward and well-coordinated. Having these chairs is a blessing; helping to cut costs on refurbishment and allowing us to focus on other essentials for the shop and our community drop-in sessions”.

Would Helen at Age UK use A Good Thing again?

“Absolutely! We appreciate the platform’s role in connecting businesses with charities in need, reducing waste, and promoting sustainability.”
