Southampton-based Life Changes Counselling charity is in need of items to furnish rooms

The charity:

The Southampton-based Life Changes Counselling charity strives to support all individuals over the age of 18 in its local community who are in need of counselling.

The charity’s volunteers are both professional and trainee counsellors, who work hard to support those who would otherwise be unable to access counselling services due to costs and service shortages in the Southampton area. Through small donations offered for each session, both clients and counsellors are supported through the charity.

The project:

Despite the lockdown resulting in Life Changes’ counselling rooms closing, the charity persevered and continued to provide services online, offering vital mental health support during the darkest days of the pandemic. The latest challenge the charity has overcome is finally securing suitable rooms to return to, at an affordable rate.

The new rooms are currently unfurnished, however, and Life Changes Counselling needs help as soon as possible to turn these empty rooms into an oasis of welcome, calm and safety for all visiting clients.

The ask:

Any of the following that can be provided to assist with Life Changes’ creation of a welcoming environment for clients would go a long way:

• Comfortable ‘counselling’ chairs (such as a tub chair, or similar) and a table for drinks and tissues.

• Small bookcases.

• Floor lamps.

• 4 small waste bins (to be positioned near the counselling chairs).

• Decorations (including wall paintings, house plants, cushions and rugs).

Can you help?

Do you have office furniture, such as chairs, tables or bookcases to spare?

Can you offer any decorations and trimmings, such as rugs, cushions or paintings, that would create a calm and soothing environment?
